Task Manager trick to facilitate sorting & selection

A serious user sometimes wants to examine the Task Manager entries to check which apps or processes take up how much RAM or CPU resources.

This task is made substantially more difficult when a lot is happening on the PC and the various entries dance about every second.

To deal with that, here’s a tip from Jen Gentleman, Windows Software Engineer for Start menu, Settings, Taskbar etc.

“If you hold CTRL it will pause Task Manager updating, which means the process names don't move around and are easier to select when you're sorted by resource usage.”

Works in both Windows 10 & 11.
