koolkat Posted July 6, 2021 Share #1 Posted July 6, 2021 Since its first release in 2000, Audacity was a par excellence example of good, open-source freeware, and justifiably highly popular. But it was acquired recently by new owners, namely Muse Group, and its Privacy Terms were updated on July 2 to include new data collection provisions. The new owners break down the two main types of data they collect as including data for analytics and for legal enforcement. This latter group is vague, general and consequently causes serious concern. https://9to5mac.com/2021/07/05/popular-audacity-audio-app-dubbed-spyware-by-users-over-policy-changes-from-new-owner If you use it but haven't updated to 3.0, you're good. If you have installed 3.0, I'd suggest going back to the previous version. 1 1 Link to comment
