Portable UVK - Ultra Virus Killer

Unofficial Portable Ultra Virus Killer (UVK)

  • PortableApps Format (PAF) Developed by DoomStorm
  • Online Launcher (UVKPortable.exe). When a new official version is available, it's automatically downloaded and used. To disable the auto-update function, modify the value of the CheckForUpdates setting in UVKPortable.ini (file available in the main folder, beside the launcher, after the initial startup). Launcher also takes care of possibly leftovers on filesystem and registry
  • To always obtain / use the current official version of the program, it's highly suggested executing the Launcher when the Internet connection is fully available. If missing, the last stored application is executed (if any)
  • Local settings, of a possibly installed and already executed official version, are preserved. They are available when the portable version is not in execution
  • Like for the official version, English is the only one available language
  • Activated. Pro Edition

  • Full Offline installer 10.3 MB (it generates the Portable version, including the official not current 10.8 version. Needed if an internet connection is not available)

  • Light Offline installer 0.2 MB (it generates the Portable version, without including any official version. At first launch an internet connection is needed to obtain the current official version. If missing, the program can't be executed)

An "offline installer" can be used to install (extract/generate) the portable version of the program included/integrated in the "offline installer". A new "offline installer" is needed for each new official release of the program, if you want update or, anyway, use the current version.

Who, using one of the two available methods mentioned in OP, has installed (extracted/generated) the portable version (eg. 10.8), executing today the "launcher" (UVKPortable.exe), will see a download window because a newest version of the program is available (eg. 10.8.2). At the end of the download, current program files will replace previous and, so, the portable version will result current. Settings of the previous version of the program will be preserved. That function is called "auto updater" (an installer is no more needed until important conditions change).

An "online installer" can be used to install (extract/generate) the portable version from the current version of the program (the "official installer" will be downloaded and used during the execution of the "online installer"). In same cases an "online installer" can be used as "Setup Extractor" of a specific version.
An "online installer" can also be used to update, to the current version, an already available portable version (previously generated by the same installer because, if built by a different "Portable Maker", it will result as not compatible), preserving the preferred settings.

Anyway, the final result is always a portable version, located in a user defined folder and executed/managed by a "launcher" (it's needed to have a "stealth" application, that means no files, registry keys and locked processes remain at the exit). Usually, this kind of portable applications can be freely managed (settings, medicines, modding, deleting of unuseful files, etc) by users because the program folder is accessible as for classical installed versions. Enjoy!
