giga84 Posted August 12, 2015 #1 Posted August 12, 2015 I am from India. I have a DSL-2730U router from D-Link. This model does not have a internet traffic controller. And on top of that it is not supported by DD WRT, Open wrt and Tomato. The internet is shared with 2 laptops. Whenever the other one watches a movie on youtube. My speed reduces to dial up speed . So is there anyway of managing the bandwidth between the two computers ?
Andr Legend s33m33 Posted August 12, 2015 Andr Legend #2 Posted August 12, 2015 You could try limiting the bandwidth priority of your second laptop using DSCP. Secondary option is IP address, which usually has a workaround if the person is technically aware. 2
Andr-Tech uk666 Posted August 13, 2015 Andr-Tech #3 Posted August 13, 2015 Have you establish that your ISP is piping in the speed they promised, make sure you are getting the download speeds that you are paying for The first thing to do is check in with your ISP and see what speed you are paying for (if you do not already know it). In some cases, all you need to do is look at your most recent bill and the download speed and upload speed. However, some ISPs like to hide this information away a little. If your bill lists something like, "Blast Speed," or "Roadrunner," then that is the tier you pay for. The only way to figure out the speed you are paying for is to head over to your ISPs web site and search through their package options. Then, head on over to Speedtest.net and run a speed test. If the numbers match up to what you're paying for, then your network is working fine and you're just paying for slow internet—and the best way to speed it up will be to upgrade.
