Hold down on the widget and then drag it to bottom of screen where it says remove or maybe it might be a trash can icon. Its not much different from the galaxy tab 2.0

tnx for the reply datakore. unfortunately that doesn't work. i wonder if the tablet needs to be 'rooted' before that operation would be possible?

Root is not required. You need to hold down the widget/icon longer and then drag it.

Any widget on the tablet is removable. Even default/stock widgets. Hold down in the center of widget, you will then see a "window like" portion. This will let you drag it to ( may be one of these 3 features)..... either a trashcan, a "remove" or an "X" which may be located at either top right corner of screen or bottom center of screen. Again, make sure you hold down on the widget long enough. Hope this helps you.

tnx guys but it will not work on this tablet. i have tried it from the home screen itself and from the widget page. you can hold down the finger till it 'windows' or whatever you want to call it, then drag it to the 'bin' and let it go when the bin changes color. unfortunately, the damn thing is still there, taking up a bloody great portion of the screen.

the reason i asked here guys is because it wont 'go' using the usual drag method. i thought there was some special way on this tablet. if there is going to be some hiccup, you can bet it's with me and mine. lol

anyway, assuming that i will be able to get rid of this, any suggestions as to something small (space taking wise) to replace this default weather app and clock?

HD Widgets is good. But pretty much any app you install that contains widgets are sizeable. When you hold down on an empty area on the screen and choose widget, you should be able to see the different sizes of your chosen widget.

tnx for the info on alternative weather apps and some good news, the damn thing has now gone off my tablet! i did nothing different to previously, nothing different to what all have said here and today it decides to play and do as it's told! you know, if it wasn't for all the bad luck i have, i wouldn't have any luck at all, lol

anyway, tnx people. helpful as usual :-)

This is a little late but some apps have add widget or short-cut in their settings which would make them re-appear each time that app is loaded.
