Srbija Posted March 8 #1 Posted March 8 Breger, Louis - Dostoevsky English | 2017 | Routledge | ISBN: 978-1-4128-0843-9 | 318 pages | PDF | 17 MB I must begin by expressing my gratitude to all those Dostoevsky schol- ars, translators, and Slavists who have made the novels, and much related material, available in English. I owe a special thanks to Sidney Monas; his excellent translation of Crime and Punishment is a model for how a text can be transformed across language and time while retaining its essential spirit. Professor Monas has been good enough to answer my questions on Russian language and culture, to share his own work in progress, and to give his reactions to portions of the manuscript. A number of friends and colleagues gave generously of their time and help as the book was being written. The analysis of Crime and Punish- ment took shape in courses that I taught with Stuart Ende. Valuable critical reactions to earlier drafts were offered by Barbara Gale, Victoria Hamilton, N. Katherine Hayles, Albert Hutter, Jay Martin, George Pigman, Robert Rosenstone, Randy Splitter, and Judith Viorst. Useful reference material was suggested by Robert Frysinger and Richard J. Rosenthal.
