Harris is leading Trump by 2 per cent as 44 per cent of voters favour her against 42 per cent favouring former President Trump, according to the Reuters-Ipsos survey. The survey was conducted on Monday and Tuesday after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race and endorsed Harris. It also came after the conclusion of the Republican National Convention (RNC) where Trump was formally anointed as the party’s nominee. In case of trilateral contest between Harris, Trump, and Independent Robert F Kennedy, Harris led Trump 42 per cent to 38 per cent, according to Reuters. Even though Harris has not been formally appointed by the Democratic Party as the nominee, she has the required the number of delegates with her and top leaders of the party have endorsed her in states and the Congress have endorsed her. The survey has a margin of error of 3 per cent, according to Reuters The Reuters-Ipsos survey not just puts Harris ahead of Trump but it also shows that Harris has improved her standing over the past week. During a survey conducted on July 15-16, Harris and Trump were tied at 44 per cent and Trump was leading by 1 per cent in another survey on July 1-2, according to Reuters. This shows that Harris has consistently gained support at the expense of Trump. 1
