koolkat Posted December 31, 2021 Share #1 Posted December 31, 2021 Nothing gives more atmosphere or taste to New Year’s Eve than freshly roasted nuts. Nuts are a healthy source of protein, fat, and fiber and are loaded with nutrients and antioxidants. They provide protection against heart disease and diabetes. They also keep you satiated for a long time, preventing mindless snacking. But because of the calories, if you’re watching your waist, just keep your intake to 1 ounce/30g. Getting store-bought roasted nuts may seem convenient but they come at a cost to our health and budget. Many store-bought toasted nuts contain additional fat, salt and additives that are not healthy for you. Making roasted nuts at home is easier than you think and barely takes a few minutes! And you can enjoy them while still warm. But here's a fair warning - they are well and truly addictive. You'll find it hard to stop at just a small handful! Though oven is commonly used to roast nuts, an air fryer is actually better for the following reasons: Cooks faster More economic No preheating is required Easy to toss the nuts halfway during the cooking process And of course, you can also warm up or refresh stale nuts. So here are the simple instructions: How to roast nuts in an air fryer Set the temperature to 165°C/330°F. Depending on the nuts (and air fryer) used, the approximate timings will change. Rough guide: Almonds – 6 minutes Peanuts – 10 minutes Hazelnuts – 6 minutes Cashew nuts – 8 minutes Make sure to toss the nuts halfway for even browning. For ensuring against overcooking, I recommend tossing more often. If you are not eating them straight away, let them cool completely before storing them in a glass container. 3 Link to comment
