Sustainable technologies seek to take these existing structures and make them environmentally friendly and energy efficient. Design Solutions for nZEB Retrofit Buildings is a critical scholarly resource that examines the importance of creating architecture that not only promotes the daily function of these buildings but is also environmentally sustainable. Featuring a broad range of topics including renewable energy sources, solar energy, and energy performance, this book is geared toward professionals, students, and researchers seeking current research on sustainable options for upgrading existing edifices to become more environmentally friendly About the Author Urszula Kozminska, PhD.Eng. Arch is an architect from Warsaw. She studied architecture and design in Warsaw and Madrid and she has been working in architectural offices in Warsaw and Amsterdam. Currently, she has achieved her PhD degree in Architecture in July 2017 at the Warsaw University of Technology with a specialization in sustainable design and the reuse of building materials in architecture and urban planning. Kinga Zinowiec-Cieplik, PhD in agriculture sciences, Eng. landscape architect, paysagiste CESP (ENSP- Versailles). For many years associated with Departement of Landscape Art on University of Life Sciences - SGGW. Since 2012 - Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture and Urban Design - on Faculty of Architecture of Warsaw University of Technology. In addition to teaching, conducts professional practice, author of many projects of Warsaw public spaces f.ex. co-author (with Malgorzata Milecka) Park Znicza, (with Piotr Hardecki) Park at Balaton area, (with Katarzyna Jakubowska) Park Henrykowski. Joanna Rucinska, PhD., Eng. - is currently working as a lecturer at the Faculty of Building Services, Hydro and Environmental Engineering at Warsaw University of Technology (WUT). She cooperates with the National Energy Conservation Agency (NAPE SA) and Energy Conservation Foundation (FPE). She graduated master's and doctoral studies at the Faculty of Environmental Engineering of Warsaw University of Technology. Both during her basic and postgraduate studies she was involved in matters related to energy, energy efficiency of buildings, energy systems and sources. Education and completed professional training provide a solid basis for performing simulations and analyses in the field of energy, pollution emissions to the environment and economic analyses. In her work, Joanna Rucinska is also involved in the use of renewable energy sources in buildings and their impact on the environment.
