Legoman Posted July 20, 2017 #1 Posted July 20, 2017 (edited) Looking for some help please on getting Avast Premier v17.5.2303 build 17.5.3585.0 (as found in Warez) installed and working. Problem: Avast installs fine and displays "Premier" version initially. At the end of the installation I get the screen to enter my registration key. I enter all the key codes I have, but none of them are valid anymore, not to worry Avast says, you can just enter your licence file afterwards in the Subscription screen. Proceed forwards anyway but as Avast starts up, it immediately connects to a server somewhere and starts updating itself. There is no way to stop this updating and no way to block it either. Installation without a working internet connection just fails and you cannot install the program at all. Upon completion of this unstoppable updating process, the 'Premier' version labelling changes to 'Free' instead. Clicking on the Subscription screen just gives an all white screen with the message UI was unable to start and an option to exit or try again. Of course try again never works, so the only working option is to exit. From here, there is no way to enter any of the included licence files, but it's doubtful they would work anyway since the program has already been converted back to the free version before you could ever get to the screen where you're supposed to be able to load the licence file. Has anyone been able to figure out the sequence required to get the program installed, stop it from phoning home and updating itself and being able to manually load a licence file to get it registered? Mirror for download of program because the Rapidgator links in Warez are completely useless for downloading from. Hidden Content Give reaction to this post to see the hidden content. Legoman Posted September 5, 2017 Author #2 Posted September 5, 2017 Answering my own question just in case it helps someone else with the same problem. In XP at least, if you consistently can't get the subscription screen to load to be able to enter the licence file, then the problem might be Terminal Services is not started or not set to start automatically when called upon by Avast to do so. This is apparently the protocol through which the Avast subscription screen uses to call home and communicate the authenticity & validity of the licence file you enter for the version of the program you're trying to install. How to fix: Try the step below to start the required service on the computer. a) Click Start, click Run then type services.msc in the dialog and then press Enter to open Services. b) Right-click the Terminal Service and then click Properties. Make sure that the service is started and set to automatic. My terminal services was stopped and not set to automatic, hence it would never start when called upon to by Avast. This config change fixed my problem permanently and I now have Avast Premier licenced and working fully registered for updates through to some date in 2032. It might help someone else. 1 1
